The Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP), developed by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), is a globally recognized software tool designed for energy policy analysis and climate change mitigation assessment. SEI, a non-profit, independent research and policy institute, specializes in sustainable development and environmental challenges, with a presence in multiple locations worldwide, including SEI Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. The institute focuses on three core areas: energy and climate change, natural resources and ecosystems, and sustainable urbanization. LEAP has emerged as a leading standard for countries, particularly in the developing world, conducting integrated resource planning, greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation assessments, and formulating Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS).
In our visual communications work for SEI, we leveraged our expertise in crafting compelling narratives and user-centric design to enhance the visibility and impact of LEAP. By developing intuitive visual assets and strategic communication materials, we effectively highlighted LEAP’s role in driving sustainable energy policies and climate action. Our work focused on creating engaging, accessible content that resonated with diverse stakeholders, aligning with SEI’s mission to promote sustainable development. Through data-driven design and innovative storytelling, we strengthened LEAP’s presence, ensuring its value in addressing global environmental challenges was clearly communicated to policymakers, researchers, and communities.
We crafted and developed the website for First Capital Bank Malawi (FCB), showcasing our proficiency in creating robust, reliable platforms that securely revolutionize banking through exceptional online customer experience. Our expertise also encompassed developing secure mobile and web applications, along with sophisticated data modeling to deliver outstanding performance and scalability. Equally important, our solutions were built for seamless and dependable integration with core banking systems, guaranteeing that transactions and customer data are processed with the highest levels of security and efficiency.
Additionally, every platform we delivered was meticulously optimized for maximum online visibility. The FCB website, like all our digital solutions, incorporated cutting-edge Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques from the ground up. This approach ensured superior discoverability and organic traffic, fostering greater customer engagement and trust. By blending secure integrations, advanced data management, compelling front-end experiences, and strategic SEO, we delivered genuinely transformative digital banking solutions.
We designed and built Ponea Health’s pioneering telemedicine platform, starting with a consumer-focused marketplace that directly connected patients to doctors, pharmacies, and laboratories. Patients could book appointments, conduct secure video consultations, order medications with home delivery, request at-home lab tests, and benefit from transparent pricing and multiple payment options—all enhanced by an innovative pharmacy bidding system that ensured the lowest possible prescription costs.
Over the years, we evolved the platform into a robust enterprise-grade ecosystem by delivering dedicated provider portals for clinics and labs, seamless API integrations for real-time data exchange, omnichannel patient engagement through unified dashboards, and embedded fintech partnerships with banks and telecoms that powered smooth transactions and analytics.
Today, we continue to advance Ponea as East Africa’s leading hybrid digital health solution, incorporating AI-driven symptom checkers, wearable device integrations for continuous monitoring, comprehensive enterprise offerings for insurers and employers, a unified Patient Digital Front Door experience, and rigorous clinical vetting alongside full compliance with data privacy regulations—creating a secure, scalable, and transformative healthcare platform for patients, providers, and organizations alike.
In 2020, Coogan Woods designed and executed a comprehensive communications strategy and global rollout for the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) and its flagship Innovate4Cities initiative, with a major focus on the high-profile Nairobi Conference. We crafted the overarching thematic narrative, key messaging, and stakeholder engagement framework that positioned GCoM as the world’s largest alliance of cities and local governments united against climate change. Our strategy highlighted how membership empowers cities to accelerate ambitious local climate action through collaboration with regional networks, national governments, and international bodies, while distilling complex regional and global knowledge into clear, actionable priorities.
Simultaneously, we led the communications launch of the Innovate4Cities agenda—built on the Global Research and Action Agenda (GRAA) born from the 2018 IPCC Cities and Climate Change Science Conference. We translated this landmark scientific foundation into compelling, accessible content that underscored the urgent research and innovation required to meet Paris Agreement targets. From media outreach and thought-leadership positioning to digital campaigns and event amplification in Nairobi, Coogan Woods delivered an integrated rollout that elevated both initiatives, mobilized city leaders worldwide, and established a unified global voice for urban climate action.
Coogan Woods conceptualized and led the branding, positioning, and multi-year communications rollout for the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon (SCNM) from 2005 to 2008, transforming it into East Africa’s premier road race and a flagship component of Standard Chartered Bank’s global “The Greatest Race on Earth” (GROE) series.
We created the inaugural SCNM identity as the Nairobi leg of this groundbreaking four-city marathon relay—alongside Singapore, Mumbai, and Hong Kong—with a combined prize purse of US$1.5 million, establishing it as the continent’s most prestigious running event. Simultaneously, we embedded Standard Chartered’s “Seeing is Believing” (SiB) initiative—a global partnership with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness—into the marathon’s purpose, raising millions to combat avoidable blindness and delivering sight-restoring programs to over 28 million people worldwide since 2003.
From 2005 through 2008, Coogan Woods orchestrated consistent global branding across all four GROE cities, managed relationships with local and international agencies, and produced unified messaging, marketing collateral, and sponsor communications that amplified both the competitive prestige of the race and the bank’s transformative social impact, cementing SCNM as an iconic annual celebration of sport, community, and sight restoration in Kenya and beyond.
